What This Pack Does

7 skills that cover every step of YouTube video creation. They form a natural pipeline:

  1. /research-brief - Find what's working on YouTube for your topic
  2. /write-script - Write a full video script based on research
  3. /generate-title - Generate 3 high-CTR title options
  4. /youtube-thumbnail - Generate 4 thumbnail variations
  5. /generate-diagrams - Create whiteboard diagrams referenced in the script
  6. (Record and edit your video)
  7. /youtube-analytics - Track performance and find what's working

Plus /cross-niche-outliers for finding viral patterns across niches when planning your content calendar.

Each skill works independently. But they're designed to feed into each other.

Skill 1: Research Brief

/research-brief "how to use AI agents for small business"

Searches YouTube for the top 20 videos on your topic. Pulls titles, view counts, thumbnails, and comments. Then analyzes everything to find content gaps.

What you get:

  • Top 10 competitor videos with view counts
  • What's working (title patterns, hooks, thumbnail styles)
  • Viewer pain points from comments (questions, frustrations, praise)
  • Content gaps - what nobody is covering yet
  • Your blue ocean angle
  • 5 recommended titles and 3 recommended hooks

API cost: ~231 YouTube API units per run. Free tier gives ~43 runs per day.

The Python script fetches the data. Claude does the actual analysis - pattern recognition, gap identification, angle development. That's the real value.

Skill 2: Write Script

/write-script based on the research brief

Writes a complete YouTube script with hooks, retention markers, B-roll cues, and diagram markers.

What you get:

  • 4 hook options (pattern interrupt, bold claim, story, question)
  • Full timestamped script (default 12 min)
  • Diagram requests list (feeds into /generate-diagrams)
  • B-roll and screen recording shot lists

The script uses retention architecture: hook - problem - agitate - solution - proof - implementation - CTA. Embedded markers throughout: [B-ROLL], [DIAGRAM], [SCREEN], [RE-HOOK].

Key: Script quality depends on your brand voice and example scripts. During installation, you created these files. The more real examples you give it, the better it matches your voice. Without them it still writes well - but it won't sound like YOU.

Skill 3: Generate Title

/generate-title for the video about AI agents for small business

Analyzes competitor titles to find outliers (videos that dramatically overperformed). Extracts the patterns that made them work. Generates 3 options.

Each title gets scored on: clickability (25%), content alignment (25%), clarity (20%), thumbnail synergy (15%), uniqueness (15%).

Rules baked in:

  • First 40 characters must work standalone (mobile truncation)
  • 70-100 characters total
  • Must COMPLEMENT the thumbnail, not repeat it
  • Anti-clickbait guardrail: "Would 80%+ of viewers think this is honest after watching?"

Skill 4: YouTube Thumbnail

/youtube-thumbnail "How I Replaced My Entire Team with AI Agents"

Generates 4 completely different thumbnail concepts using Gemini AI, plus a 2x2 comparison grid. You pick your favorite and iterate.

Design rules baked in:

  • Person on right side (~40% width), shoulders-up
  • Visual elements on left side
  • Darkened real-world background (not solid black)
  • Max 3 distinct elements
  • 3-5 words of text, readable at mobile size (320x180)
  • Bottom-right stays clear (YouTube timestamp overlay)

Tip: Quality depends on your headshot. Use a well-lit, high-resolution photo. If your face doesn't look right, try a different headshot with simpler background.

Skill 5: Generate Diagrams

/generate-diagrams from ./my-video/script.md

Reads [DIAGRAM: name] markers in your script and generates each one as a hand-drawn whiteboard illustration via Gemini.

6 diagram types:

  • Chaos/Before-After - tangled arrows vs clean solution
  • Card Columns - 3 pastel cards with flow arrows
  • Numbered Steps - vertical checklist with icons
  • Flow with Branches - main flow with horizontal branches
  • Recipe/Concept Card - tilted card with characters
  • Architecture - central hub with spokes

Key: The reference screenshots you provided during setup define the target look. Those 2-3 examples are what make the output match a consistent visual style.

Skill 6: YouTube Analytics

/youtube-analytics last 30 days, compare with @competitor1 @competitor2

Pulls your channel data and generates an interactive HTML dashboard you open in your browser.

What you get:

  • Channel overview (subscribers, views, avg views/video)
  • Views trend chart with green/red highlights
  • Best posting times heatmap (hours x days)
  • Top and bottom performing videos table
  • Competitor comparison (if provided)

Self-contained HTML file. No server needed, works offline.

Skill 7: Cross-Niche Outliers

/cross-niche-outliers for AI/tech education content

Finds viral patterns across different YouTube niches. Spots title and thumbnail formulas that work regardless of topic. Use it when planning your content calendar.

How Skills Connect

The typical workflow:

  1. Run /research-brief to understand the landscape
  2. Feed the brief into /write-script for a full script
  3. Run /generate-title using the research + script
  4. Run /youtube-thumbnail with the chosen title
  5. Run /generate-diagrams to create visuals from the script
  6. Record your video
  7. After publishing, run /youtube-analytics to track performance
  8. Use /cross-niche-outliers periodically for fresh angles

Customization Reminder

During installation, you set up brand files. These are what make the skills work for YOUR channel:

  • Brand voice file - your tone, vocabulary, phrases you use/avoid
  • Identity file - your name, expertise, background
  • Example scripts - real scripts from your published videos
  • Headshot photos - for thumbnails and diagrams
  • Reference diagrams - screenshots defining your visual style

Want to improve output? Add more example scripts and be more specific in your brand voice file.
