3. Start scraping leads

Let me quickly show you how this fits into the bigger cold email machine, because scraping is just one piece of it.
When it comes to cold email lead-gen, in our program, there are three stages:
We already handled stage one at the beginning of the program — we bought 10–12 burner mailboxes and started the warm-up. The warm-up takes 21 days.
So right now we’re in stage two: Prospect list.
This means creating a list of actual people who could realistically buy from you — not random companies, not generic spreadsheets you found online — real, high-quality prospects.
A good list includes, at minimum:
full name, email, company (and later we’ll enrich with even more useful info)
Over the first month of the outbound sprint, we are going to scrape 4,000 to 6,000 prospects.
That number may look big right now, but trust me — once you learn the workflow, this isn’t just doable, it’s shockingly fast. And having thousands of targeted prospects gives you the confidence and the clarity you can’t get from tiny numbers.
When you’re only sending 50 emails a day, it’s impossible to gather enough data to confidently validate (or invalidate) your problem-solution hypothesis. When you’re working with 5,000 prospects, your conclusions become data-based.
💡 The real reason outbound works (and why most people think it doesn’t)
Most people who “try” cold outreach never actually run cold outreach — they send 20, 50, maybe 100 emails and then stop. At that scale, any outcome feels random. A yes feels lucky, a no feels discouraging, and silence feels personal.
But once you’re reaching thousands of relevant prospects, everything becomes measurable:
- If almost nobody replies → the offer isn’t strong enough
- If people reply but don’t book → the messaging needs adjustment
- If people book but don’t convert → sales process needs tuning
- If people convert → you’ve found product–market fit for that niche
That’s the point of scraping thousands of prospects in month one — not to “blast the internet,” but to gather enough information to make smart decisions about your niche, your problem, and your offer.
Outbound at scale removes emotion and replaces it with data.
And scale doesn’t mean spamming — it means:
- talking to the right people
- with the right message
- backed by personalization
- plus an irresistible offer
Two things you need to fully understand before we continue
1. This is a highly valuable skill.
If you learn how to:
- set up outbound from scratch
- build high-quality prospect lists cheaply
- enrich + personalize them automatically
then you can sell anything to anyone for the rest of your life.
This skill alone can build entire businesses. I’ve used the exact same outbound funnel for every startup I’ve worked on, every new idea I validated, every offer I launched. It’s not limited to AI automation — this is a universal business growth skill.
2. Yes, scraping costs money — and it should.
There are small costs for:
- scraping credits
- enrichment credits
But the ROI is absurd.
Doing this manually would take weeks/months. Scraping + enrichment takes hours.
And more importantly — we’re building a real business here.
If someone wanted to open a grocery store, they’d pay rent, buy inventory, pay utility bills, run ads, etc. Here our “inventory” is data — and it’s insanely cheap.
If spending ~$50 to generate thousands of high-quality prospects (any one of whom could turn into a $2K–$20K client) feels “too much”… that’s not a scraping problem — that’s a commitment problem.
The List-Building Funnel
If you think about list building, think of it as a funnel with four layers:
- Lead Source → where the data lives
- Scraping → extracting those profiles
- Enrichment → finding contact details (emails)
- AI Personalization → generating custom first-line openers for each lead
That’s the full flow.
Once you understand this structure, you can mix and match tools however you want — the tools will change over time, but the formula never changes.
1. Lead Source → “Where the companies are”
This is the top of the funnel — directories or platforms that contain a massive amount of company profiles.
Examples of lead sources:
- Apollo
- LinkedIn Sales Navigator
- Google Maps
- (and in some niches) industry-specific directories
2. Scraping → “Extract profiles from the directory”
Some platforms (like Apollo) let you export leads… but they are expensive.
So instead of using Apollo directly, we use other solutions to scrape it.
Examples:
For Apollo:
LeadsRapidly, AmpleLeads (plus various scrapers on Apify)
*LeadsRapidly does not work for me lately. AmpleLeads works well ($2.5 per 1k leads).
For Sales Navigator:
For Google Maps:
Anything else
Custom scrapers via Apify / RapidAPI
A quick reality check:
- scraping tools change all the time
- APIs break
- pricing fluctuates
- some tools stop working, others become insane value
So the goal of this module is not to worship one tool — it’s to understand the logic of the funnel.
If you understand the sequence → Lead source → Scrape → Enrich → Personalize,
you’ll always be able to adapt.
3. Enrichment → “Find the actual emails of real people”
Scraping usually gives you companies (domains) and names.
Enrichment gives you emails.
In our world, enrichment = finding verified business emails of decision-makers.
Tools:
- AnyMailFinder (my favorite — you pay only for verified emails)
- Prospeo (alternative)
With AMF, you pay only for valid emails. Example:
You scrape 1,000 companies → enrichment might return 380 validated emails.
4. AI Personalization → “Generate hyper-specific first-line openers”
Personalization is the difference between:
❌ “Hey {{first_name}}, I came across your company…”
and
✅ “Loved your recent post on hiring 3 new agents — congrats on expanding into Miami.”
This used to take hours manually.
Now we do it automatically with AI.
Tools:
- ChatGPT / Claude
- Perplexity
- (automated inside n8n / Make)
*We’ll cover AI personalization in a separate module — but just know that *it’s mandatory today.
Cold email without personalization = spam.
Some tools combine multiple layers
A tool like AirScale can scrape multiple lead sources at once (Apollo + SalesNav + Google Maps).
They also offer enrichment, although I personally prefer to enrich with **AnyMailFinder, **they both charge additional credits anyway.
Another example: Apify scraper — they already extract leads with emails.
Super cheap: $1.5/1,000 leads.
For some niches, Apify scrapers like that one alone can generate thousands of high-quality leads without enrichment.
For others, enrichment is required.
Possible tool combinations
You can mix and match based on your niche and budget. It is also a good idea to test 2 different leads sources for the same niche.
Here are some examples:
- Apify + AnyMailFinder
- AirScale + AnyMailFinder
- Apollo + LeadsRapidly
- Sales Navigator + Vayne + AnyMailFinder
- Google Maps + Apify + AnyMailFinder
Some of these tools will:
- work perfectly for one niche and fail for another
- be cheap today and expensive next month
That’s normal.
Outbound is not about using “the perfect tool.”
Outbound is about understanding the system and then adapting it to your niche.
