2. Build Confidence & Social Proof

This action item is less about technical steps and more about fixing your mindset while laying the foundation for trust and credibility with prospects. Businesses want certainty: they want to know you’ve done this before and that you can deliver results. If you come across as unsure, desperate, or brand new, they won’t risk their money with you.

The tricky part? This is the classic chicken-and-egg problem. To close clients you need social proof, but to get social proof you need clients. Let’s break down how to overcome that.

Step 1. Fix the impostor syndrome (mindset reset)

If you feel like you’re “too new” to charge money after only watching a few tutorials, remember this: everyone is new to AI right now. You’re not behind — this entire industry is at the starting line. If you’re curious, hardworking, and moving fast, you can easily catch up or even surpass people with more “experience.”

AI automation is not like medicine or law where people study for 10+ years. It’s fresh, evolving daily, and your edge is simply showing up and putting in the reps. That's the beauty of this industry - we are all new here, so don’t let impostor syndrome hold you back.

Step 2. Develop your credibility statement

A) Reframe your past experience

If you’ve already completed projects — even outside of AI — you can repackage them into social proof. The key is to focus on results in numbers:

  • Instead of: “I built a lead-gen system for XYZ company”
  • Say: “I generated $15,000 in additional revenue for XYZ using an automated lead-gen system.”

Clients care about outcomes, not tech jargon.

If you have work experience as an employee, dig into your past roles. Maybe you used automations, CRMs, or outreach tools without realizing it counts. Write down what you did, what systems you touched, and put it into a results-first story.

Example from my own background:

I worked as an affiliate manager. My role was to generate leads and close partnerships.

I generated over $200k for company X using automated lead generation systems.

B) Borrow credibility through association

Sometimes credibility comes from who you’re connected to, not just what you’ve done. A few approaches here:

  • Big names: If you build something for a person who works (or used to work) at a major company like Google, you can truthfully say: “I’ve built systems for professionals from Google.” (Notice it’s not the same as saying you worked for Google directly.)
  • Community leverage: Because you’re part of this community, you technically work with me and Nick. You can say: “I collaborate directly with Bosar Agency — here’s their website and YouTube channel.” Use our case studies, tutorials, and reputation as borrowed credibility. That’s part of what you’re paying for by being here.

C) White-label case studies

While you’re doing your niche research, you’ll find plenty of startups and companies already offering similar automation or AI-based solutions. Most of them share detailed case studies showing real numbers, examples, and measurable results from systems they’ve implemented.

You can absolutely leverage that. Take inspiration from those examples — rebuild the same type of system yourself (or a simplified version of it) and use it as a working demo when talking to prospects.

Present it as:

“Here’s an example of a system that generated $X for a company in [niche].”

You’re not lying — you’re showcasing what’s possible and associating yourself with proven, real-world systems. When you build and show an actual demo version, it not only helps prospects visualize the value but also demonstrates your technical ability without needing client projects yet.

Your Action Item Today

  • Write down at least 3 “go-to” social proof statements you can use in outreach or on calls.

  • Examples:

    1. “I collaborate directly with Bosar Agency, an AI automation agency with documented case studies.”
    2. “I’ve helped a company generate $100K through automated lead-gen systems.”
    3. “Here’s a system I can show you that helped [industry] companies save 10 hours of manual work every week.”
  • If you don’t have real projects yet:

    • Use your background creatively (reframe past jobs),
    • Leverage community association,
    • White-label some case studies.
