Plan Mode

You wouldn't build a house by laying random bricks. You'd hire an architect first. Review blueprints. Approve the design. Make changes on paper — where they're free — before a single brick is laid. Because changing a blueprint costs nothing. Tearing down a wall costs a fortune.

Plan Mode is the architect phase. Claude Code thinks through the entire project, writes out a step-by-step plan, and shows it to you before touching a single file. You review it. Approve, modify, or reject. Only then does construction begin. This saves massive amounts of time and tokens (which is money). Catching a mistake in a plan takes seconds. Catching it after everything is built means tearing things down and rebuilding.

The live build walks through creating an analytics dashboard connected to real data using Plan Mode from start to finish. You see Claude Code generate the plan, you see how to review and adjust it, and then you watch it execute — building something more complex than the first website, but with far more control over the process.
